Since my last entry we have not taken off and gone anywhere
It is a sad state of affairs when expenses are making one work continually.
That is our situation. The budget has gotten so tight we are working 7 days a week. Every day is at least 12 hours at our warehouse trying to pay the rent and other bills.
I don't know about you, but when I thought of owning my own business, I thought of shorter hours after a few years, not longer hours.
Right now our rent is due and we are short, so it looks like no days off for a while longer.

On a whim I created this StayCation travel log. I saw an ad on on of my favorite blogs, The Adventures Of Tioga And George There was an ad on his page to create a free travelogue and I clicked...... AND HERE I AM.
My wife and I started this day at work at our own business, but needed to pick up four Disneland tickets we won on a local county radio station. We had to go to the next town north of us to get the tickets, so why waste a trip, especially with gas prices so high ($4.499 at our corner gas station).
We loaded our two small dogs in our pickup truck. Put a package to ship at Fedex in the rear and headed out.
A stop at Costco for a Pizza to go, then Fedex and on up the California coast to Ventura. We picked up our Disney tickets and head a few miles farther north to one of our favorite beaches for walking our dogs.
The beach is about 16 miles for home, so for sure qualifies as a StayCation event. With our own business we don't take vacations, but do take days off. This is how our StayCation will work, a day at a time.
We left our business in the sunshine and arrived at the beach with high fog. Even though it was cool, in the 60s, there were kids playing in the water and sand. Kids love the beach regardless of the weather, and so do we.
Parked at the beach with windows open we enjoyed a pizza lunch listening to the roar of the ocean.
Once on the beach we noticed on problem, lots of small globs of tar on the beach. It is natually occuring and seeps up from the ocean floor. The local Indians used it to caulk their boats in centuries gone by.
After only about 15 minutes on the beach we decided to move on down the coast toward home.
The next beach stop had all of the free parking taken. We decided not to stay and go on down to the park by the beach on one side and Ventura Harbor on the other side.
It is enjoyable to walk the trail there. The ocean is on one side with crashing waves and the harbor is on the other side of about a 200 foot wide jetty.
In the harbor are million plus yachts parked at the back door of million dollar homes. See our pictures for one example.
The neat thing about this park is there is a cement galleon for kids to play on. It also has a rope (steel cable) slide to ride for free. A pully hangs on the cable and a heavy rope dangles down from it. The big knot at the end of the rope acts as a seat for kids riding down. Some adults ride it too.
The picture we have shows a woman riding the rope slide. You can see her up near the top of the run.
